Description: As denominadas “Áreas da União”, no que se refere às atividades de exploração e produção de hidrocarbonetos, são aquelas localizadas nas dentro dos limites das bacias sedimentares efetivas (onde há possibilidade de ocorrência de petróleo e gás natural), que não possuem contratos ativos para exploração ou produção desses recursos. Essas áreas são delimitadas considerando o estudo do Zoneamento Nacional de Recursos de Óleo e Gás, produzido pela Empresa de Pesquisa Energética - EPE, e também as informações obtidas junto à Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis –ANP sobre as áreas já contratadas e as definições dos setores que são subdividas as bacias sedimentares brasileiras.
